The SSLC results were announced today and with an overall pass percentage of 93.6%, in Tamil Nadu saw a slight increase compared to 2015 when a pass percentage of 92.9% was recorded. It was raining State ranks with 50 students having bagged the State second rank with a total of 498 and 224 students securing the State third rank with 497 marks out of 500.


Sources have stated that R. Sivakumar, a student of Noble Matric Higher Secondary School, Virudhunagar and Prema Sudha, a student of Excel Matric Higher Secondary School in Rasipuram, Namakkal has bagged the State first rank with a total of 499 marks.


Out of the 10.11 Lakhs candidates who had appeared for the examinations from schools in the State, over 7.33 Lakhs students have secured a 60& and above aggregate. Last year, 7.96 Lakhs candidates had managed to score above 60&.


The number of centum in maths, science and social science too saw a dip. While 1.15 Lakhs students had scored centum in science in 2015, only 18,642 students had scored a centum in the subject this year. This year also when compared to the ranking girls have scored more than boys.
