As per report from JAMA Internal Medicine Journal and reignites debate, Vegans have substantially lower death rates than meat-eaters. The research was undertaken by scientists at Massachusetts General Hospital, who monitored health and diet records of more than 150,000 people for 30 years ! 


They found that 3% protein in plant will reduce risk of death by 10%. This raises to 12% for risk of dying from heart disease. By contrast, raising the share of animal protein in one's diet by 10 per cent led to a two per cent higher risk of death from all causes. 


This increased to an eight per cent higher chance of dying from heart disease. Also using egg instead of plant protein leads to 19^ reduction in death risk. Also caution is necessary as the results might be misinterpreted. 


Vegans are more likely to be younger than general population and they will also have lower mortality rates. Also they influence the lower mortality risk. People who eat more also face risk of being obese.
