Thirunaal' is an upcoming action movie in Kollywood. The movie is directed by KP Subramaniam who earlier directed 'Ambasamudram Ambani' with Karunaas in lead role. Nayantara shares screen space with Jiiva after 'Ee'. Meenakshi, Sarath Lohitashwa, Gopinath, Karunaas, Joe Malloori, VIS Jayapalan, G.Marimuthu were part of the supporting cast. Srikanth Deva score tunes. Technical team features VT Vijayan for editing and Mahesh Muthusamy for cinematography. The movie is produced by M.Senthil Kumar under Kodandapani Films banner. So how has the movie shaped up ? What is the plot ? Let's see in this review. The plot is having 'beaten-to-death' screenplay where Jiiva is a local rogue working for a local goon in Kumbakonam. Nayantara's father is also acquainted with him and at one stage, Jiiva is forced to lock horns with the main villain who brought him up. As per Tamil cinema rule, he turns into a good guy and how he brings him down forms the rest of the story. No wonder this movie is dealyed lots of times and it has got a late release.

Jiiva as Blade has done justice to his role. He has came out of his comfort zone and has done some raw performance. Sharath Lohitashwa as Naga has put in his effort with a slow and brutal villainy on show. Nayantara makes the romantic portions look like a cakewalk but her mannerisms seem ordinary at times compared to her recent performances.Joe Malloori, Karunas, Sharath Lohitashwa, Munishkanth have done justice to their roles. Nothing much to brag about them. Gopinath who scored as Assistant commissioner has done some impact. However he carries his TV performance and mannerisms.

Coming to technical wise, the movie has nothing much to offer. Director has taken an ordinary script and he has made a fair execution. New age audience will definitely be annoyed to see such pathetic stories again and again. Cinematography by Mahesh Muthuswamy gives a feel as if we watch TV serial. Everything is so routine and olden age drama. Srikanth Deva's Music is just plain noise. Be it songs or Background score. TS Jay and VT Vijayan has also failed with editing. Production values are good and Sri Thenandal Films has done it once again. But they have chosen the wrong movie to spend the money. Other technicians have done justice to their work adequately.

Thirunaal is an outright commercial outing with a right knot from the director. However the execution is predictable and the screenplay is highly known to everyone. Audience lost patience mid-way as they get tired of same old script. Music by Srikanth Deva is also pathetic. No wonder this movie is ignored by distributors earlier.
