Theater lo Naluguru Review: Story

The film has two parts. One part is the actual theatre where the film ‘Naluguru’ is played. The actual film is the one which is played onscreen. A gang of four friends embark on a trip to a forest guesthouse and on the way they are suddenly stopped by the heroine, who is the girlfriend of one of the guy called Sri and she too joins them. Their journey to forest takes an unexpected turn in the middle of the night at the forest resort when they start playing a game. There is an invisible force which chases each one of them. What is that force and why it is after them and at the same time what happens in the theater where this movie is played forms the actual story.

Theater lo Naluguru Review: StarPerformances

The main guys Sri and Varun look fresh with their acting skills and have displayed the natural acting tendencies while Dheeraj and Shankar (Bangarraju) play the comedy part, which has perfect timing. Shankar’s acting resembles Sunil and with his North Andhra accent, he tickles audiences in the theaters and he may be the latest discovery after Tagubothu Ramesh in the industry.

Varun’s expressions need slight improvement while Sri displays good expressions, especially serious ones. Dheeraj’s timing is apt but he is overshadowed by Shankar’s comedy. Shwetha Pandit looks hot and sexy in her shorts and is good at her expressions.

Theater lo Naluguru Review: Direction, Music & Technical Aspects

Srinivasa Raju Dendukuri has embarked on a routine story of a gang of friends at a forest guesthouse and the chasing scenes. Though the story looks routine, he succeeds in giving it a different treatment. Few scenes with the mention of Ram Gopal Varma definitely show the ‘inspiration’ behind the idea and the technical expertise.

Chinna’s music may not be great in the first part but the backscore for thriller scenes definitely made its mark. Cinematography by S.D. Jaan is a highlight for this movie where he captures things in a right way including the heroine’s beauty, the beauty of forest, the tribal girl and the thriller scenes in the forest and theatre.

Theater lo Naluguru Review: Analysis

The team has to be appreciated for their unique attempt for this film. When looked at as an overview, everything may look routine but as the plot unfolds the audience nevertheless gets stuck to the seats. The exact coincidence between the actual movie onscreen and also the theater scenes makes the audience glued to their seats. Varun’s magic skills, betting mania of Sri and the hearing forks of Dheeraj look unnecessary.

Comedy is a highlight and Shankar definitely deserves praise for his timing. Shwetha Pandit’s sexy looks adds the right glam quotient for the film and she can do well in Tinsel town if she can resist offers to do B grade films. But continuous seduction of hero in front of his friends could have been avoided and was unnecessary. The adult content could have been projected in a different way than in a vulgar manner especially with Shankar’s underwear scenes in the first half, his hand gestures holding the deodorant bottle.

The forest, guesthouse, watchman and his wife again form a routine backdrop. Technically the film can be rated as good, though it is made on a low budget. When viewed in terms of individual aspects, the film may not impress you but when viewed as a whole the right mix of thrill, comedy, cinematography and screenplay can definitely attract A class audience while the double meaning scenes and the focus on heroine’s thighs can help the movie in having a good run at B and C centers. Climax was ok.

Bottom Line:

One ticket, Two Films and far better than Aravind 2 and routine thrillers.
