David Ninan is a builder by profession. He is happily married to Michelle, and the couple has a daughter, named Sara. David and Michelle's peaceful life turns upside down after an unfortunate incident, which severely affects their daughter. Then enters Andrews Eapen, the Superintendent of Police of the city, who eventually develops a connection with David Ninan. What happens next in the lives of David and his daughter Sara thickens the plot. How Mammootty rescues his daughter and to know what happens in the climax watch the movie this weekend.
Mammootty's performance as David Ninan and his style of acting deserves a big round of applause. Arya, who plays Andrews Eapen, shines in his well-written role. The actor makes his presence felt throughout the movie, especially in the face off scenes with Mammootty. Sneha as David's wife Michelle has really less scope to perform in the movie, which might totally disappoint her fans. The director's making is good. Baby Anikka is the biggest asset of the movie. The rest of the star cast, including Kalabhavan Shajohn, Miya George, Malavika Mohan, Santhosh Keezhattoor, IM Vijayan are perfect in their respective roles.
Roby Varghese Raj's cinematography is simply outstanding. The brilliant colour tones used create an amazing impact in both the lighter and darker aspects of the movie. The music is scored by Gopi Sundar is average. Noufal Abdullah's cuts and edits are fine. But the slow pace especially in the first half might not go well with the common audiences. The costume designer had made everyone look terrific and beautiful.
If you are expecting a totally Mammootty show, the movie will leave you disappointed. The Great Father equally caters the family audiences as well as the youth, by handling a highly relevant social issue in the most sensible way. The different treatment might not go well with common audiences, but it is the factor which makes the movie unique and more gripping. Haneef Adeni had shown father and daughter sentiments which is worth spending your money. It is a mass entertainer in fact.
