Vikram Vedha is an action crime thriller which was inspired by the folk tale of Vikramaditya. The main characters are touted to be derived from the tale. Vijay Sethupathy is seen in two different shades, one as a young age gangster and the other as an old one. Madhavan looks tough with his role as a police officer. The story of Vikram Vedha revolves around two men, one a gangster and the other as a tough and fierce encounter specialist. Vikram is desperate to Kill Vedha, but the tales narrated by Vedha shows who is the real bad guy and what does Vikram decide in the end forms the rest of the story.

Madhavan had acted amazingly different and Vijay Sethupathy had performed realistically which will be loved by his fans. The actress Shraddha Srinath had played the character Priya, a lawyer and married to Vikram. She is intrinsic to the plot. Malayalam actor Harish Pesharadi plays a gangster who is interlinked with Veda's life. He is a no fuss actor and there are many shades to his role. Kathir and Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar essay significant characters. However, in the end, the movie is supported by two main pillars Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. Vijay Sethupathi once again proves he is the boss with his attitude and body language. Madhavan shines in his encounter specialist role.

The action packed movie has powerful background scoring and the music is made excellently. Kudos to Sam CS for his composition. The fast action based movie should have all the aspects perfectly to make the movie a big success. This crime thriller, directed by Pushkar and Gayathri (Real life husband and wife) has done a tremendous job. The screenplay is gripping with three tales interlinked. The locations show the darker side of Chennai. The visuals are made brilliantly and the movie has unique story base. PS. Vinoth had looked after the cinematography and the editing part was portrayed by Richard Kevin. Editing could have been a little crisp. The bar song, the brother sentiment scenes could have been chopped off.

Just like 'The Dark Knight', this movie is all about an unstoppable force facing an immovable object. The directors, husband and wife team Pushkar and Gayathri, have worked out a great script which comes alive on the big screen. The film is based on the characters Vikram and Betaal from the popular folklore and they have given it a very contemporary twist. The audience will decide which is good and bad in them. Madhavan as a powerful and ruthless cop and Vijay Sethupathy as the gangster will definitely entertain you.
