Tamil cinema these days are facing more number of releases from Telugu industry. Thanks to success of 'Baahubali' and 'Srimanthudu', lots of movies have regional releases these days. The recent release is 'Akhil The Power of Jua'. Sri Thenandal Films bagged the rights of the movie.
Nagarjuna's son Akhil makes his debut with this venture and V.V.Vinayak has directed the project. Sayesha segal also made her debut as female lead role. Music is scored by Anoop Rubens and S.S.Thaman. The movie was expected to have a massive release in Tamil Nadu.
But the makers never got enough screens as 'Vedalam' dominated most of the screens. Actor Nithin funded the movie under Sri Sresht Movies banner. V.V.Vinayak also confessed that the movie will be a new genre to Tamil cinema.
Sri Thenandal Films was unhappy with the last release 'Rudhramadevi'. The movie had delayed release and it was a flop show in Tamil. They hoped to bounce back with 'Akhil'. But the movie was even a more flop show in Tamil version.
