Telugu playback singers are a rarity in Tollywood today. Genex filmmakers always prefer imported singers to either Suneetha or Geeta Madhuri. But in the olden days renowned singer P.Susheela used to mesmerise everyone with her melodious voice. During that time she used to sing 3-4 songs in almost all hit albums.
When Guinness World Records and Asian World Records recognised,Susheela Mohan, popular Tollywood singer's contribution to Indian cinema, people of two Telugu states Telangana and Andhra Pradesh became extremely proud.
Susheela sang around 17,695 songs (solo, duet and chorus backed songs) in twelve Indian languages and Guiness Book recognised her achievement publishing as 'Amazing Event'. Even Asia Book of Records too noted that she sang close to 17, 330 songs.
Credit goes to her fans who worked hard by coming with psusheela.org and updating it with her songs. Susheela said credit goes to her husband for sacrifising his life for her. She said during her time career growth was slow step by step unlike today where singers get recognition quickly with so many channels.
