Dasari Narayana Rao was born 4 May 1947, Palakollu, West Godavari, is an Indian film director known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema, and few Bollywood films. He has directed about 151films, produced 53 films and has worked in more than 250 films as a dialogue writer, and a lyricist.


During his career he has also acted in Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada languages. He has catapulted a popular daily newspaper named Udayam to counter the effect of Ramoji Rao's newspaper Eenadu. He has introduced actors and directors such as Mohan Babu, R. Narayana Murthy, Raviraja Pinisetty, Muthyala Subbaiah to Tollywood film industry.


Dasari was elected to the Rajya Sabha and he became the Minister of state in Ministry of Coal and said to be a confidante of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Dasari has once again became active in politics after Congress Party came back to power in 2004.


He has received two National Film Awards, nine state Nandi Awards, and six Film fare Awards for South region. He was given the Doctorate "Kalaprapoorna" from Andhra University for his contribution to Telugu Culture and Telugu Cinema in 1986. May God shower more blessing for the great man.
