Akhil Akkineni made his debut last year with a disastrous first film, Akhil — The Power of Jua. The movie which released amid lot of hype, had a pre—release business of 47 Crore but could not even collect 20 Crore Share at the box office. After the movie failure, Nagarjuna gave a good advice to Akhil saying that it is a crime to try to save the world in the first film itself.
Nagarjuna meant that he should not attempt larger than life characters and should go easy for the first few films with lighter subjects. Subsequently he selected the remake of Ye Jawani Hain Deewani for Akhil's second project. He wanted Vamshi Paidipalli Oopiri director to do the film but that did not happen.
We are said that Akhil is looking at Boyapati Srinu for his second project. Boyapati is known to be a master of Oora Mass genre. A relatively experienced actor like Allu Arjun also struggled to fit in to the shoes of Boyapati hero in Sarainodu. The movie is a success but various other factors helped. Akhil is too young to work with Boyapati and if that happens, it will be a very costly mistake for the young lad. If this type of selection goes on, Akhil will join the league of failed star kids like Ramesh Babu, Taraka Ratna, Dasari Arun etc.
