Shrutihaasan's father Kamal haasan is often known for experimenting new and different genres. With each movie in different dimension he has won several awards and accolades. So far the actor has bagged 4 National and 19 Filmfare Awards.

Also with 7 submissions, Kamalhaasan has featured in the highest number of movies submitted by India for the Academy Award Best Foreign Language Film. Kamal also bagged Kalaimamani Award in 1979, Padma Shri Award in 1990 and Padma Bhushan Award in 2014.
An interesting fact is after bagging Filmfare award for 'Hey Ram' in 2000, Kamalhaasan requested Filmfare not to consider him for further nominations. He even wrote a letter to the juries regarding this. Kamalhaasan wanted to encourage new and upcoming talents in Tamil cinema as Awards are not a big thing for him.
It should be noted that, Kamal haasan's elder daughter Shruti haasan bagged a Filmfare Award last year for the movie 'Race Gurram'. Right now the father and daughter duo are working together for a new movie titled as 'Sabhash Naidu'. Kamalhaasan himself directs the project.
