Well, these days we all are trapped in a loop where we don't see various genres. We are caught inside a particular shell which cages us with cliches and stereotypes. But now a movie has proved that it has the ability to smoothly transit from one genre to another.
Well, the movie is 'COLOSSAL'. "Colossal" is the story of Gloria (Anne Hathaway)! Well, don't jump to conclusions... It's not a biopic. Gloria has an addiction to alcohol and some personal events force her to move back to her Hometown from NYC.
At the same time, a monster attacks Seoul in South Korea. Glora gets an eerie sensation that the monster's rampage is somehow connected to her downward spiral. At the same time, another giant robot appears and Gloria has to deal with her life, this monster, herself and her tragic relationships with men, and the bottle.
'COLOSSAL' is genre-hopping, in its best form. The movie doubles up as a comedy, drama and a sci-fi movie. The main lead Anne Hathaway has given a mindblowing and unforgettable performance. Hathaway occupies a very large component of the movie.
And of course, most of us can relate ourselves to that character. Jason Sudeikis is surprisingly good as the bad guy. In short, you can label it as 'Good Vs Evil'. But the movie also speaks about what Alcohol does to people and how people regret on what they said and done while they are under its influence. Overall, this is an 'NOT-TO-BE-MISSED' movie
