Since yesterday, around 1100+ theaters in Tamil Nadu were shut down in order to GST effect. Theater owners are pleading Tamil Nadu Government to exempt them from the Entertainment tax as now with GST, the tax alone hiked to 60%.

In this case, most of the public are lashing out their rage against Multiplex malls who are looting money under the name of Popcorn, Soft Drinks, Parking tickets. A 10 Rupee worth popcorn is sold for Rs.150 in a multiplex theater. Same goes with other food items too.

And for those who make online food arrangements, the cost goes even higher. Even though the ticket prices are just Rs.120/ a family can watch a movie on the weekend only if they are ready to spend at least 2000 bucks.

Most of the public vent out their rage and they say, before asking TN Government to eliminate the tax, ask the Multiplex theaters to eliminate the hike in food items which are sold inside. It should be noted that these malls never permit outside food too. Even a water bottle is not allowed. The cost of a one liter water bottle is Rs.50 inside the multiplex theater.
