Sensational young Malayalam hero Dulquer Salmaan (Son of Megastar Mammootty), is a familiar face in Tollywood as well, thanks to his first dubbed release in Telugu, the 2015 romantic entertainer Ok Bangaram. Directed by Maverick maker Maniratnam, the film had Nani dubbing for Dulquer, and had the bubbly, talented Nithya Menen playing the female lead, and achieved considerable success.

Now, the actor is making a proper entry into Telugu film industry, with his upcoming Telugu/ Tamil Bilingual Mahanadi, which is the biopic of legendary actress Savithri. While Keerthi Suresh plays the title role, Dulquer Salmaan enacts the role of Yesteryear Romantic hero Gemini Ganesan, and when questioned on how he opted to star in this different flick, the actor revealed that he was initially hesitant to act in Mahanati as he didn't know the language, but was later convinced to be a part of the flick seeing director Nag Ashwin's enthusiasm and out of box thinking to make this Biopic.

The film also stars Samantha in a pivotal role as a journalist, and Prakashraj as producer Chakrapani who had produced few movies with Savithri. Meanwhile, Dulquer is expecting the release of two of his dubbed Malayalam flicks coming to Tollywood soon, Andamaina Jeevitham co-starring Anupama Parameswaran (Jomonte Suviseshangal) and Hey Pillagada (Kali) co-starring Sai Pallavi.
