Versatile actor Prakashraj won a special jury national award first time for his performance in the 1997 flick Iruvar. Directed by ace director Maniratnam, the film had Mohanlal and Prakashraj playing leads, and their characters - Anandan and Thamizhselvan were inspired by former TN chief ministers MG Ramachandran and M Karunanidhi respectively. The film that also marked the debut of Miss world Aishwarya Rai, faced numerous controversies and troubles in the release, and ended a commercial failure, despite turning out to be a cult classic.



Now, 20 years after Iruvar happened, Complete actor Mohanlal and Prakashraj are set to join hands with the upcoming Malayalam flick Odiyan, directed by V.A.Shrikumar Menon and starring Manju Warrier as the female lead. Prakashraj is excited about being a part of the Film and will be joining the shoot happening in Palakkad soon.


Odiyan is a big budget fantasy flick with lalettan playing a character named Manikyam and will be based on Kerala folklore about Odiyan, someone who can change forms and transform into anyone. Post his Superhit Mundhirivallikal thallirkumbol earlier this year, Mohanlal faced setbacks with 1971 Beyond Borders and the recent Velipadinte Pusthakam. It is to be seen if Odiyan featuring this golden combo of actors can turn out to be a comeback Blockbuster.
