Actor Vijay Sethupathi, fondly called Makkal Selvan by his fans, has been in impeccable form ever since he starred in his career resurrecting Superhit Naanum Rowdythaan in 2015, and churned out one commercial success after the other, with Sethupathi, Aandavan Kattalai, and this year's Blockbusters Kavan and the sensational Vikram Vedha.

After his long-delayed flick Puriyatha puthir that released on September 1 to lukewarm response, the talented actor is looking forward to his next release, Karuppan. The rural mass entertainer is directed by Panneerselvam (Renigunta fame) and will have Vijay Sethupathi paired with Tanya (Brindavanam), and Bobby Simha playing the antagonist.

Speaking at the pre-release press meet yesterday, Vijay Sethupathi expressed that it is tough to actually act in a commercial film than an offbeat one and that he's not a superhero, but a normal actor, who loves to play action hero and send goons flying in the air. He further added that he will not even accept the National Awards if he's given the same,  as he feels that Tamils have been suppressed and the language has been removed even from train tickets.

He said that people are suppressed just because they emote rather than act. Vijay Sethupathi also revealed that Karuppan was a perfect festive film, that speaks of the relationship between a husband and a wife, and it is apt to release it on a festive occasion ( September 29, Vijayadasami).
