The 2014 Diwali Release Tamil flick Kaththi Directed by A.R.Murugadoss and starring Vijay in lead role, was accused of plagiarism, in various angles, with its first look motion poster plagiarized from a Turkish newspaper ad campaign, it's coin fight ripped off from Midnight Dojo, and the best and the highlight plagiarism issue was the one involving the whole script of Kaththi itself.

An assistant director, Minjur Gopi, had claimed that the story of Kaththi belonged to him and AR Murugadoss had plagiarized the content of his script Moothakudi. Though Murugadoss and team escaped unscathed, Minjur Gopi's accusations seemed genuine, as that plot very much resembled Kaththi's.
