Vijay who was last seen in Pongal with 'Bairavaa' is now making a comeback in Diwali with 'Mersal'. As 'Bairavaa' got released without any barricades, it went without a trace at the Box-Office. But this time, 'Mersal' had lots of barricades and the hype was too high.

So has the movie lived up to that hype and hysteria? Let's see! The plot is the same one which got leaked a few days back. The movie opens in Rajini's 'Sivaji' style and right from the start, the story speaks high about Tamil Pride. Kajal Aggarwal is totally annoying in her role, however, she looks drop-dead gorgeous.

Samantha as Tara fails to make an impact. After a successful 'Raju Gari Gadhi 2', she disappoints. The Interview scene also has shades of some Tamil movies earlier. A lengthy scene showcasing the corporate hospital's fraud is highly predictable. Vadivelu is totally out of his zone.

Instead, they could've blended the recent mysterious demise of Late CM.Jayalalitha and would have made hard-hitting. The second half is totally a massive disaster with a very lengthy flashback sequence. Guess, the editor is not paid and he has taken the vendetta by saving all scenes and lengthy draggy ones without any cuts.

A.R.Rahman should have thought this movie doesn't need his best and songs are pretty average.  The cinematography is good and each frame is eye candy.  But they aren't enough to save the disappointing end result from a muddled plot, thinly written characters, and choppy directing.
