The Mangeshkar family has been extremely angry on director Karan Johar for allegedly misusing a song crooned by Latha Mangeshkar. Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham is a yesteryear blockbuster family drama starring Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, and Kareena Kapoor, and directed by Karan Johar. The film's title song is extremely popular even now.

Recently, Karan Johar had directed one of the 4 segments of the Netflix original movie, Lust Stories, featuring Kiara Advani in the lead role. One of the scenes in the movie  featured Kiara Advani masturbating using a vibrator device, with the Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham song played in the background. Now, Latha Mangeshkar's family is angry on Karan for playing such a song which is considered equivalent to a devotional hymn.

When a woman indulges in self-pleasure. One of the family members of Latha has revealed that when Lathaji had recorded the song, Karan was extremely happy and that he still remembers how Karan had said that his dream had been fulfilled. and it's shocking how Karan made use of the same song in such a manner.

Latha Mangeshkar's family has said that though they haven't yet informed her about the misuse of her song, they want the director to have used some other song instead. The segment Kiara Advani stars in Lust stories, features her as a teacher, whose husband played by Vicky Kaushal, is not able to satisfy her in sex, following which her character takes to the vibrator route to achieve pleasure.
