Director Steven Shankar's Telugu movie Hrudaya Kaleyam, which marks the acting debut of Sampoornesh Babu, has registered decent response at the Andhra Pradesh Box Office on its opening day. Considering its volume of release in the state, its first day collection is far better than Ram Gopal Varma's much-talked about film Rowdy featuring popular stars Mohan Babu and Vishnu Manchu. Sampoornesh Babu, who is an NRI, had heavily promoted Hrudaya Kaleyam online prior its release. Its promos had created lot of curiosity among the film goers. Having released in 260+ screens in the state on April 4, the film witnessed an average amount of footfalls with its occupancy ranging between 30% and 35% in both multiplexes and single screens in the morning shows on Friday. The movie buffs, who watched Hrudaya Kaleyam in the first show, were impressed with Sampoornesh Babu's action, comedy timing and dialogue diction, which formed a strong positive word of mouth. Apart from this, a mixed opinion for another new release Rowdy became a boon for the film and boosted its business in the later shows and also on Saturday and Sunday. The movie has collected approximately Rs 6.75 crores at the AP Box Office in the first weekend. Its breakup is Rs 2 cr on Fri, Rs 2.25 cr on Sat and Rs 2.50 cr on Sun. Hrudaya Kaleyam does not have a fresh an interesting storyline, but the unique treatment of the subject and its commercial ingredients have appealed both film goers. Meanwhile, film critics have given good response for the film, when compared to their reviews for Rowdy.
