Strange are the ways of Copyrights and royality issues. Drishyam was made and released in Malayalam more than an year ago. The movie was a super hit there and was recently remade in Kannada too. The movie was again a super hit there too. And now the film released a week ago in Telugu and got the hat-trick success. After all this hungama, Bollywood Film Maker Ekta Kapoor sends legal notices to Drishyam producers (original) for 'copying' the 'Devotion of Suspect X'.
We do not know what made them to be so late but the makers of the Malayalam version are ready to fight it out in the courts. As it happened, The shooting for Tamil version of Drishyam starts today with Kamal Hassan in the lead role.The original movie director Jeethu joseph has decided to re-direct this movie only in Tamil. Gautami is expected to play Meena’s role in the film.
The Telugu Version of Drishyam starring Victory Venkatesh and Meena was a stupendous success in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The movie set off with a very positive talk right from the day one and the collections kept on improving day by day as family audience thronged to the theaters. The movie finally had amassed 9.8 Crore in the first week of its release.
The makers have recovered their production costs (excluding Venky's remuneration) from the satellite rights of the movie and all that come from the theatrical run is now profits. All the buyers who shelled money for the movie are also in the safe zone even before the completion of one week run. The movie can be easily considered as the biggest hit of the year so far in terms of return on investment.
