In the picture above is Gharanamogudu Film poster in Malayalam. The film was dubbed in to Malayalam as Hey Hero. The song Punnara Peda Mane (The Malayalam version of Bangaru Kodi Petta) was very popular in Malayalam back then. Back in Telugu, the movie was a blockbuster here too.
Gharana Mogudu directed by Darsakaratna Raghavendra Rao, became the first Telugu film to gross over 100 million rupees at the box office. However many may not know that the blockbuster film is a remake of the 1986 hit Kannada film Anuraga Aralithu starring Kannada Superstar Rajkumar.
Gharana Mogudu collected a distributors' share of Rs.13.5 million in its opening week and a whopping 100 million share in its full run. Gharana Mogudu is the first Telugu film to collect a share of 100 million. The film had completed 100-day run in 56 centers and a 175-day run in three centre including a 183-day run in Sandhya 70mm, Hyderabad.
Gharana Mogudu also have its share of controversies too. Critics have come down very hard on Chiranjeevi and Raghavendra Rao for too much of double meaning dialogues in the movie. Nevertheless the movie ended up a big commercial blockbuster.
