The recent meeting of Telugu Film Producers Council reportedly had given a serious thought on banning the film reviews in media particularly the Web media. The council opined that reviews are causing so much of damage to films at the box office. Some of the producers opined to ban the websites giving reviews while some felt it is better to stop the reviews till the first weekend of any movie release.

Already the media is irked about imposing frills on advertisements in TV channels and so the Producers Counil reportedly paused a decision on this for now. In the press release that followed, the council requested media not to write reviews immediately after the benefit shows or morning shows. Insiders say this request may turn in to a rule any time.

Frill to Freedom of Press?

On the other side, critics are very annoyed at this attempts to curb freedom of Press. Some critics advise the industry biggies to concentrate on improving the quality of films which will automatically decrease the bad reviews. There are several instances where reviews helped films gain limelight. Needless to say, bad films will get bad reviews which will effect the movie collections.

Interestingly some producers always maintain that reviews do not threaten film business except for influencing collections to some extent in Overseas. Audience there mostly prefer to read the reviews before spending a minimum of $10 on their tickets and also have very long distances to travel to watch the films.
