The Oscar selection panel consisting of five members led by popular film maker Amol Palekar is currently in Hyderabad. The panel will be scrutinizing over 45 films submitted by various film industries across the nation and then will be finalizing India's Official entry to the Oscar awards this year.
The Telugu film chamber of commerce had put forth Baahubali as the offical entry from Tollywood. Baahubali will face tough competition from Aamir Khan’s PK, Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly, Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider and Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom, apart from a spate of low budget indie gems like Masaan, Kaaka Muttai, Umrika etc.
If at Baahubali makes it finally to the Oscars as India's entry, the movie will get international acclaim and will increase the business prospects of the movie and its sequel. On the other side, the makers are also readying the international version of the movie. Famous Hollywood Editor, Vincent Tabaillon is brought in to the project to edit the film and ready it for international audience.
