A plea for extension by diesel taxi owners who has told the apex court that there is no technology to convert diesels to CNG mode was dismissed on Saturday and from now onwards will be allowed to run in Delhi and other parts of national capital region from Sunday as the Supreme Court has refused to extend the deadline.


Previously the court has decided to shift the deadline from April 1st to May 1st and following are the highlights of the court decision. The first highlight is that the Supreme Court declines to extend the deadline for diesel cabs to convert CNG mode. Secondly the diesel taxi owners had earlier approached the Supreme Court and have sought the extension of the deadline.


Thirdly the cab owners have told the SC that there is no technology that converts a diesel car to CNG mode. Next highlight the SC has set on April 1st as deadline for diesel cabs to move to CNG mode. 


A 30 day extension was given to cab owners and by May 11th all the diesel cabs had to convert to CNG and the final highlight was the SC on Saturday has refused to extend the deadline and the cabs with All India Permit need not have to convert the same.
