The cabinet on May 25th has given a ex-post facto approval to a pact between India and Japan for promoting sustainable and low carbon thermal power development and the Union Cabinet which was chaired by the PM Narendra Modi on May 25th has granted ex-post facto approval to the MoU between India and Japan for promoting sustainable and stable low carbon thermal power development in India.


Both the nations will definitely identify the issues to be addressed regarding existing and upcoming facilities and also operation and maintenance at either of them and the number of target power stations will be decided through mutual consultation by CEA and JCOAL.


Both the nations will consider the possibilities for the acquisition of carbon credits with the bilateral or multilateral offset schemes that are expected to be materialized in the future upon consideration of financial side of individual cases of power development and there will be annual workshop in India and the CCT Transfer program in Japan for bilateral knowledge and technology exchanges globally.
