The Federation of Aerial Cable Operators, who represent the internet cable operators have reportedly expressed their strong opposition to the Telangana government's proposal for making Hyderabad city a Wifi Zone. They reportedly are of the opinion that this proposal was mooted only for benefiting Reliance Group headed by Ambanis. A delegation of cable operations today met Telangana IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao at the State Secretariat requesting him to reconsider their plea. The mention that Reliance’s offer of Wifi free of cost for six-months in Hyderabad would deprive the livelihoods of close to 30,000 families that are now dependent on internet cable operators. This would be indeed a big blow to the accessory industries as well. They also urged the government to enlist the services of all cable operators and restrain from policies that leads to their unemployment. Some of the common rivals of TRS and TDP have already started making noises that KCR seems to be taking Naidu’s route on Reliance.
