Kurnool district is strong bastion for Congress party. Party has won majority of Assembly Segments in the district both in 2004 and 2009 general elections. In 2014 general elections, YSRCP won majority of the Segments and next followed by TDP. Congress was routed out in all segments. BJP was lost Kodumur to YSRCP in the district.
People were not in a position to elect the Congress party in near future. BJP leaders have concentrated to strength the party base in Rayalaseema. BJP wants to fill the gap. Paanyam former MLA Katasani Rambhhopal Reddy joined in BJP and took the responsibilities of the district. Katasani said that he joined BJP to strengthen Modi leadership. Last week, AP BJP leaders were organized big rally in Kurnool. Kavuri and Daggupati also participated in the rally.
Kavuri said that there is no place for Congress and YSRCP in 2019 elections. Nandhyala MP SPY Reddy already joined in TDP. Kurnool MP Butta Renuka is also in thought of leaving YSRCP. In addition to that, YSRCP local leaders are looking towards TDP. YSRCP ZPTCs joined in TDP that helps to win the district ZP for the TDP. All these developments cause worrisome to YSRCP. Congress party vote bank shifted to YSRCP in 2014 elections. If BJP strength in the region it might swallow YSRCP vote bank.
