With soaring daytime temperature resembling summer and a failed monsoon, Hyderabad and rest of Telangana is all set to face its worst power crisis this year. This is with reports that there would be an unprecedented shortage of around 25 million units. Sources say that authorities are contemplating a massive six-hour daily power cuts in Hyderabad, up from the four-hour harrowing time for denizens now. In the districts, the situation has reportedly worsened. This is forcing farmers and even small and medium entrepreneurs to hit the streets in mass protests against the 8 to 12 hour-long cuts which are being imposed in Adilabad, Warangal, Karimnagar and Nizamabad. Sources say that lack of transmission connectivity with northern and western grids and lack of dedicated line from Chhattisgarh is expected to wreak havoc at a time when summer season is still far away. Villages and Mandal headquarters in Telangana districts are facing severe load-shedding and in some places there was no power for more than 12-hour while Medak industrial area is reportedly badly hit due to power shortage.
