Taslima Nasrin has multiple entry visa (X visa) for one year which allows her to stay in India promises till August 2015. Taslima said, "I got a call from an official who said the government of India has given me a one-year residence permit. I will soon collect the relevant documents." The phone call brought her relief. She was in 52, has an EU passport and has been living in India on an X visa since 2004. Initially, she had to renew it every 6 months. Since 2011, the then UPA government had issued her X visa renewable every year.
However, she was in a shock when in July the Centre extended her visa by only 2 months pending certain procedural formalities such as verification. Taslima met home minister Rajinikanth Singh on August 2nd who assured her that the issue would be resolved. She has just returned from Europe after delivering the keynote address at the World Humanists Congress at the ;. Her speech delineating her journey to atheism and fight against patriarchy received standing ovation from an audience.
