The Telugu Desam Party is gearing up to get a national tag for itself soon and in this regard, the party boss Chandrababu Naidu has appointed a committee for looking into this status. This move is being looked at as a positive initiative by many. The committee would examine what all has to be done for getting this status and during next Mahanadu in April-May; the party would be formally endorsing its ambition for becoming a national party. There are reports that TDP would be soon fighting elections in Telugu dominated areas in neighboring Odisha, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu given the fact that there was a lot of appeal from these regions during 1999-2001 for TDP unit after Babu’s popularity grew very much. Naidu feels that such a tag would go a long way in erasing the Andhra tag which is affecting the party’s revival in Telangana districts and giving an excuse to lie low even when public opinion may have started turning against TRS!
