In what is being seen as setback to the Telangana government, the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) has issued an order on Friday directing that there should be no power generated from Srisailam reservoir after November 2, 2014. It also added that the total release of water in these two days should not be exceeding 3 tmc feet. The TRS government is reportedly threatening to challenge the order from KRMB in court. KRMB member secretary RK Gupta reportedly faxed the board's order to Telangana and AP governments which also reminded them of the assurances given by the Telangana government that it would be following the orders given earlier in the meeting which was held in 10th July, 2014. From the last week, the TRS government was releasing an average of 16,000 cusecs water from Srisailam each day and generated about 6 million units of hydel power each day. This is seen as vindication of AP’s stand that water has to be preserved till summer.
