The State government of AP is planning to expedite the process for establishing a Maritime Board that was only on papers for 10 years. Sources say that the board would be constituted to develop 14 non-major ports in the state all along 1,000 km coastline. AP now has four major ports such as Kakinada Deepwater Port and Anchorage Port, Ravva Port (S. Yanam, East Godavari district), Gangavaram and Krishnapatnam ports whereas the new ports are being proposed at Bhavanapadu, Bhimunipatnam, Megavaram, Kalingapatnam, Nakkapalli, KSEZ Green Field Port, Nizampatnam, Narasapuram, Machilipatnam, and Vodarevu Ports are now propose for development. Andhra Pradesh is expected to attract an investment to the tune of nearly Rs 30,000 cr for all the 14 ports. The employees of various port trusts have also agreed to join the Maritime Board.It is being said that once this becomes fully operational then AP will never have to look back and is a big boost for its development.
