Donakonda name was heard many times at the time of division of the state and before submitting the Siva Rama Krishnan Committee report. Everyone expected that Donakonda would be the capital for divided Andhra Pradesh. Some of the political leaders from Congress and YSRCP bought acres of land assuming the Donakonda became the capital for the state.
CBN ruled out the recommendations of Sivarama Krishnana committee and prefer the capital in between Vijayawada and Guntur. Thousands of acres of forest and government lands are available in Donakonda. AP government has in thought of how to utilize these lands. There is a plan to develop as Industrial hub.
Airport Authority of Indian officials visit Donakonda airport which was constructed in British Era. There are satisfied with all facilities in and around Donakonda. They checked Signaling system with different devices and Runway in the airport. Donakonda has good connectivity from all means of transport. AP Government has decided to develop the area as Mini Airport.
