AICC observer Digvijay Singh and PCC President Raghuveera Reddy said that Congress would extend its support to YS Jagan in fighting for getting Special Status to AP. Digvijay Singh has suggested Jagan not to take risk for Special Status. Digvijay also added that both parties would fight for the benefits of AP as mentioned in Telangana bill.

Reportedly, Congress party had worried when YS Jagan announced Hunger-Strike for Special Status to AP. Before that, Congress party did many agitations for Special Status but none of these gave fruitful results to the party in the state. Congress leaders in AP and High Command were anxious about Jagan’s agitation and take updates from State leaders regularly on his agitation. That is the reason none of the Congress leaders went to Guntur to look Jagan’s agitation.

Both parties have enjoyed the same vote bank. In 2014, general elections, Congress vote bank diverted to YSRCP completely. Congress seeks to get back its vote bank from YSRCP. Internally, Congress wants the downfall of YSRCP. Congress leaders have very much delighted for the failure of Jagan’s agitation. Even though they extended support to YSRCP, Congress is happy after seeing latest developments in Jagan’s agitation. But YSRCP leaders worried to work with Congress on Special Status because of TDP allegation Mother Congress and Child Congress.
