The aviation sector is one of the most unnoticed sector. Lots of unfair business and malpractices happen here. Very rarely the news gets leaked. It is most often 'Air India' which gets the spot light due to bad services.
Now for the first time, Jet Airways, IndiGo and Spice Jet grabbed the lime light. They have been charaged penalties of Rs.258 Crores for fixing fuel surcharge for transporting cargo.
This news caused ripples among the companies. Because there was no penalty on the National airline Air India and another private airline 'Go Airlines'. They were also been complained by Express Industry Council of India. But they were not dragged into the scene.
A press release reads , "The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has penalised three carriers -- Jet Airways, InterGlobe Aviation Ltd and SpiceJet -- for "concerted action in fixing and revising Fuel Surcharge (FSC) for transporting cargo." The penalty split up is given below,
Jet Airways - Rs.151.69 Crores
Spice Jet - Rs.63.74 Crores
IndiGo - Rs.42.48 Crores
