People of Chennai are still worrying as rains and heavy thunderstorms are back. The sun shine has went away and heavy rains has washed out the normal day to day life activities. The meteorological department has confessed the rains will continue for even four more days.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding relief funds. She asked for a sum of Rs.2000 Crores. However Narendra Modi ordered the government to provide Rs.940 Crores as initial measure for the relief measure.
In her letter to Modi, Jayalalitha has said, "The funds required for the rescue and relief and the the temporary and permanent restoration of infrastructure has been worked out at 8481 crores.
The memorandum contains all the damages and requirement of funds is enclosed." As per her demands, the central team has dispatched an initial sum of 940 Crores. More funds will be provided as per the government's report. Modi will return to India after completing his tour of Malaysia.
