It's the season of Christmas and every one in overseas has started the celebrations in grand scale. The celebrations have already started in Australia. Now a Christmas tree has made a world record. This Christmas tree which made record belongs to Canberra, Australia. 


The illuminating tree has 518,838 twinkling lights. The tree has officially entered the Guinness World Records. The Guinness World Records confirmed that David Richards had broken the record for the most lights on an artificial Christmas tree. So far the record was with Universal Studios, Japan. 


They built 36 meters (118 ft) Japanese tree with 374,280 lights. Now the Canberra lawyer, Richards  has built a tree with 518,838 lights. Richards is also a business man and he brought his team of volunteers which includes an electrical engineer, structural engineer, welders, carpenters, masons and steel fixers. 


Regarding this record, Richards said, "People come forward and help me for nothing because they knew the fact that I do things for nothing and I am contributing my own money, time and effort. I never did it for record."
