The Chennai Floods has completely battered the normal life style. However the floods have drained and people are slowly limping back to their routine lives. But things are not as good as earlier. Now we hear from reports that the state Government is the sole reason behind this flood and it is a 'Man Made Calamity'.
- Meteorological Department has clearly mentioned by last week of November that more rains will be in Chennai by 1st and 2nd of December. But the state Government never even bothered about it.
2. Once again the forecasting department said, the rainfall will be heavy and 50 Cms rainfall are being expected. Immediately they asked to reduce the Chembarambakkam lake to 18 feet from 22 feet. But then also the Government never bothered.
3. As expected rains came and they were huge. Chembaramabakkam was overflowing. People were warned that 5000 Cubic feet of water will be released from the lake. But the actual amount of water released was 10,000 Cubic feet of water. A Government Official said the water was released after receiving an order from a minister. But the website of Tamil Nadu showed just 900 Cubic feet of water has been released.
4. The shocking news is by December first the lake was at 3141 Million cubic feet. But on December 2nd, it was just 1134 Million cubic feet. That means by midnight they have released 29000 Cubic feet of water and people who were sleeping were unaware about this. And that has caused the floods.
