Lots of Questions were thrown on IT minister K.T.Rama Rao's decision to take people on board the Metro train when it is yet to be declared fit by the safety certification authorities.

Professor M.N.Srihari who is the adviser to Karnataka government on Bangalore Metro said, "When the government itself says they wait for safety clearance, the minister is not supposed to take people on board. It is not only violation of norms, but it also risks lives."

As per rules,  the metro service has to be cleared by the Railway's Research Design and Standard Organization (RDSO) and the commissioner of metro railway safety (CMRS). It is clear that the CMRS certification is pending. The chief executive of L&T, Mr.V.B.Gadgil said, the application was sent to CMRS for certification.

He said a response is awaited. He also added that the process is going on and this would take a couple more months to get the safety clearance. But the Metro train was operated with some 300 people inside along with IT minister KT Rama Rao. The ride was not commercial.
