In a clear indication that very soon the stalled metro works will start in Sultan Bazaar area, sources say that the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited ( HMRL) has reportedly acquired 1,370 square yards of land belonging to a petrol pump.
This located exactly opposite to the Osmania Medical College at the Putlibowli Junction. HMRL has announced that this land acquired will be used for parking and circulation facilities for Sultan Bazaar metro station.
It is also expected to serve as the parking lot for the proposed HMR Relief & Rehabilitation Complex (R&R complex) for accommodating the traders of Sultan Bazaar who will be losing their shops for the grand metro project.
The complex will be housing 80 shops and 100 hawker platforms. Due to
resistance from the Sultan Bazaar traders for the metro commencement
works, acquisition of the petrol pump land has now set the process in
motion. Once the construction picks up, the old Sultan Bazaar will be
history!
