Holding an extravagant ‘yagam’ for providing relief to the people of Telangana which has been reeling under a prolonged drought puts a big question mark, according to the national media which is questioning K. Chandrashekar Rao’s credentials.

Many media groups have criticized him saying he cannot be a leader who is aspiring for real solutions to the real problems on the ground. National media says it has raised serious questions over such an exercise in a country whose constitution says every citizen which also includes its leaders share a fundamental duty to cultivate a scientific temper.

It termed this as an unscientific, obscurantist ritual which was conducted for the so called general welfare of the people in the new state which was reeling under the threat of prolonged drought and also questioned why there was no debate on chief justices, governors and others who attended it!

It says this is based on a feudal mindset and Brahaminical notions which stand against every tenet of democratic politics which is enshrined in the constitution adding that it also threatens to overturn the gains made during decades of struggle for gaining equal rights and entitlements for the disadvantaged sections.
