Telangana Government has already announced that everyone has to pay the power bills right on time. But most of them are still having electricity bill arrears. Now the Government has announced that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will waive power bill arrears for consumers who use up to 100 units per month.
The arrears will include Delayed Payment Surcharge (DPS) and now the expected amount for DPS alone is estimated to be Rs.52.42 Crores. This will be paid by the Government to the Southern Power Distribution Company Limited.
Chief Minister K.Chandrasekar Rao already has said few days back ti waive power bill dues in GHMC area. The announcement came just few days before the polls to GHMC. And it should be noted consumers in GHMC area are using more than 200 units per month.
They also have electricity bill arrears than the actual rates. For the rest of the state, they are asked to pay the dues before month of March. The government also ordered every office to install a prepaid electricity meter before 1st of April.
