Recently we reported that Indian Army men were hit by an avalanche in Siachen and rescue operations began in hunt for their bodies. Rescue operations were carried out by specialized teams of Army and Air force in progress to search for bodies of the soldiers hit by avalanche.


Now Lance Naik Hanaman Thappa was found alive after buried inside snow for six days. He was evacuated to Army's base camp and later he was taken to Delhi's Research and Referral Hospital in a special air ambulance. He will be brought to Palam airport and airlift to the hospital.


Thappa is from Karnataka and he hails from Karnataka. He was buried under 25 feet of snow for six long days. The avalanche hit the post at an altitude of 19600 feet and the temperature was about minus 45 degrees Celsius.


Other nine personnel were found dead. This includes a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and eight other ranks of Madras Regiment. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is meeting the survivor today.
