Recently we reported that a meteorite killed a bus driver at Vellore. Even Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha confirmed the same. Online photographs of the meteorite hit was shared and CCTV footage was provided to news channels.  But now New York Times has reported that it was not a Meteorite hit.

They also said that NASA Scientists have confirmed the same. As per early reports, the images showed a crater which was five feet deep and two feet wide. The witnesses described an explosion and even police recovered a black stone from the site.

Now Lindsey Johnson who is NASA's planetary defense officer said that death by meteorite impact was so rare that one has never been scientifically confirmed in recorded history. She said, "There have been reports of injuries. But there has been no deaths. One such incident took place in Russia by 2013."

US Daily cited that scientists from Indian Institute of Astrophysics are also having doubts whether it was actually a meteorite. Professor Anupama said, "There was no prediction of Meteorite shower and it is a rare phenomena."
