There has been only one after the other failure for the Bharatiya Janata Party in most of the elections in different States over last 19 months and there has been growing discontent among NDA allies. There are rumours that this has made Prime Minister Narendra Modi to rethink on strategies.

Especially in Andhra Pradesh, a well known national daily has hinted that the Prime Minister has more or less come to the conclusion that the BJP now has no scope of growing as an independent power  in AP and it should now depend only on its ally the TDP.

In Telangana, as well the BJP has absolutely no chances of becoming a viable alternative force, as it has become evident in recent GHMC polls. So, some feel that the Centre has no option but to meet the demands of NDA allies, if it has to regain power in 2019.

Hence it is being said Modi may be considering the demand for special status to Andhra Pradesh. Modi has reportedly spoken positively over special status demand when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu met him in Delhi on Tuesday.
