Chennai Airport has faced another mishap recently. Recently the deluge in Chennai caused disrupt in flight travel and now a minor fire accident in the Airport has caused slight delay. The fire started on a ground-handling vehicle around 10.30am and they caused delay in flight travel.


The fire was immediately put out by the persons nearby. Sources said the battery-operated baggage handling vehicle caught fire when it was being driven to load bags. 


One of the Airport authorities said, "The smoke came form the battery pack and it was stopped immediately. But it caused some panic and tension. The accident was minor and it never was a threat. There was no risk to aircraft or anyone. Inquiries will be made on what caused the fire."


A source said, "We saw smoke coming out and there was a little panic. But before the fire spread around, officials put the fire out and there was a little tension prevailing. Flights were delayed by 30 minutes."
