A gang in Punjab's Mansa district has clearly deceived Flipkart of at least Rs.26 Lakhs by exploiting the easy-returns policy of the leading e-commerce portal. The gang will order expensive mobile phones and when they get delivered, they will call the company and complaint about quality issues.

The gang has a mobile phone retailer and a SIM card seller who created fake email ID's and through them they ordered phones from the company. They will hand over fake mobile phones in the Original box of the product to the representatives who were sent to collect the returns.

The money which is paid in various banks was also sent back to their accounts even before the phone reached the dealer. Regarding this Flipkart deputy general manager Manoj Chaudhary said, "Whenever a customer contacts us to return any item with defection, We credit the money instantly and then we check the item later. In this case, more number of complaints came from same area and that prompted us to call the cops."

Police have arrested and filed case under sections 420 (cheating), 465 (punishment for forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using a forged item as genuine) and 120-B (punishment for criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
