From few years, unpredictable rains and long summers are cursing earth. Water resources are reducing day by day before summer itself. Water table is in dangerous levels compared to earlier years. This is warning to the future that water will be inadequate even to drink and use. This situation is seen in Andhra and Telangana also. As the water from Krishna, Godavari have reduced, few historical monuments submerged in water are visible now. The worst thing is vehicles are being driven where boats were float earlier.

The main water resources are getting dried in two Telugu states. Four water channels carrying water to capital city are already endangered where two are near them. Underground water is the main source for irrigation, industrial and household purposes. Even they are reduced. Now people are much worried about the summer and how to spend the other two months. Now this is the responsibility of each and every citizen, not only the government, to face this problem.

The main reason for the reduction of water resources of 4 main rivers is excessive consumption. The reduction in the number of wells, pits and lack of water conserving facilities is also another problem.

Due to this people are depending only on underground water as there is no collected and preserved water. 65% of irrigation water is from underground only. This lead to fall of underground water table.

To face this problem, Central government has introduced ‘underground water conservation’ scheme. All the states and union territories should make rules and issue orders such that they should preserve water.

We can preserve underground water by saving the rain water. Raining is a natural process. This depends on environment and its balancing. The only things we can do are saving each and every drop of water and reduce the wastage.
