The Shyam Benegal Committee will revamp the Central Board of Film Certification and a senior most film producer in the Telugu film industry has suggested for a single regulatory for movies, Social media and YouTube. The Film Federation of India’s former President Adi Seshagiri Rao has urged the censorship be done away for movie trailers.


But Rao has said that censorship is applied only for movies and not for online videos. Rao has penned to the Joint Secretary K. Sanjay Murthy, Minister of Information and broadcasting has said that there is discrimination against movies. Rao has also insisted to organize movies of all regions and languages in the country.


Rao said the CBFC is liberal for Hollywood movies but as the Hollywood movies are dubbed in regional languages, presently Indian movies are getting lesser amount in the box office. He also said that film producer’s movies which have received A certificate cannot be screened in TV and some unwanted scenes should be cut and given U/A certificate and screened in TV.


Rao has so far produced 100 movies in the period of 45 years and is ready for having consultations with the Shyam Benegal Committee so that needed reforms can be brought out. Rao has said finally that the Minister has to take steps to make changes in the Cinematography act and Cable act to unite as one and have a common regulatory authority.
